“Energy Return Wheel”, by Brian Russell

Here is another non-pneumatic tire, but this one isn’t passive: it absorbs and release energy actively. The Energy Return Wheel spins shock absorption events into a modicum of forward motion for a safer and more efficient design. The idea appeared to the inventor, Brian Russell, while he was designing sneakers.
