“En Face”, by Kira Varvanina From Studio 1:1

The “En face” collection created by architect and designer Kira Varvanina from Studio 1:1 explores fiber optic technology as a sculpting medium. Thanks to this unique technique, artists use beams of light to shape the human body.

The fiber optic images are created by simultaneously drawing a line in all three axes and by manipulating a glowing optical cable.

“En face” means “facing forward”. This name for the collection was chosen to challenge traditional ways of looking at art as two-dimensional objects. The pieces all possess two states of expression that adapts to the surrounding lighting condition, showing one image in the day and another by night.
