Affect Studio Hangs 13,454 Chopsticks in Newly Completed Izakaya Restaurant
Berlin and Los Angeles-based design firm Affect Studio has decorated this new Japanese restaurant located in the center of Berlin, Germany.

The team composed of Sofia Borges and Bjørn Hoffmann hung 13,454 hand dyed chopsticks, which have been drilled, threaded and attached to a suspended ceiling over the main seating area.

“Doodle Sofa” Has Subconscious Patterns For Moroso, by Design Front
Stockholm-based group Design Front created “Doodle”, a leather sofa looking like a creative map you can sit on for Italian top-quality manufacturer Moroso.

Its shape is amazing: the circular form has been folded and tucked to make it appropriate for sitting. But most importantly, absent-minded drawings make up the whole pattern of the stylish couch.

“Vertical Village” Solar Development in Dubai, by Graft Architects
Graft Architects designed “Vertical Village”, a residential, hotel and entertainment development planned in Dubai. It is organized to reduce solar gain and maximize solar production.

At the north of the site, the buildings are massed as self-shading slabs on the east-west axis to reduce low-angle sun penetration. At the southern end of the site, a vast solar collector array optimally angles itself toward the sun.

“D’Espresso” Upside-down Cafe Looks Like a Library Flipped On Its Side, by Nemaworkshop
Designer Anurag Nema and his team at nemaworkshop created the design of the new Manhattan coffeeshop D’Espresso.

The team of designers flipped the library on its side to create the decoration of the walls. It’s a bit disorientating, but that is the idea. The designers took their inspiration from the famous space-station stewardess scene from 2001.

Swedish studio Jagnefält Milton Architects proposes a unique hotel design for the small Norwegian city of Åndalsnes.

“Tea-House & Library”, by Archi-Union
Shanghai-based architects Archi-Union have constructed a “Tea-House & Library” in the backyard of their studio.

With timber-formed concrete walls twisting up through the interior, the two-storey building has a glass façade and a triangular first-floor balcony wrapping around the branches of an existing tree. The house is constructed from the salvaged parts of the original warehouse’s collapsed roof.
