The Stickygram project from the creative technology company Mint Digital offers a personalized printing service that turns your Instagram images into beautiful and practical magnets.

You can create your own set and it gets delivered to your door. Each magnet is 5×5 cm – about 2 inches – the size of the Instagram on your phone. “The Bloom”, Breathing Architecture Installation Made Of 14,000 Pieces

Since last November, a shiny undulating installation can be seen on Material & Application’s courtyard on Silver Lake Boulevard, Los Angeles. The center for architecture and landscape research shows “The Bloom”, a 14,000 pieces of thermobimetal installation designed by University of Southern California architect professor Doris Kim Sung, in collaboration with Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter and Matthew Melnyk.

Two metallic sheets, each with different expansion rates, are laminated together. According to the temperature, the metal sheets curl up or flatten out. The 6-meters tall experiment will have big implications in energy savings architecture, it is a chance to change the way we think.

Berlin-based computer engineer Jonas Pfeil and his team created the “Throwable Panoramin Ball Camera”, a very playful and enjoyable device that takes spherical panoramic pictures in a couple of seconds.

Here is a new concept: while visiting great places, one can just throw the ball and explore a full representation of the captured environment. The robust 3D-printed and padded with foam ball encloses 36 fixed-focus 2-megapixel mobile phone camera modules and an accelerometer used to measure launch acceleration. Integration predicts the rise time to the highest point, where the cameras are triggered.

“Bamboo Cases For Macs”, by Silva Limited

Oregon-based carpenter named Justin joined his two passions of woodwork and Mac products and created Bamboo Cases for protection.

The cases are made of solid sheets of bamboo. Once cut, they are sanded, glued, felted and finished by hand. The leather strap comes from a full cowhide, which has been cut into stripes and shaped to get a comfortable feel, then hand burnished and oiled.

“Windows Of Opportunity”, by GM & Bezalel Future Lab

“Windows Of Opportunity – WOO” is an interactive car windows project, fruit of the collaboration between GM and the students of the “Future Lab” Masters Course at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. The project focuses on transforming car windows into interactive displays and to create an enriched experience for the backseat passengers.

Full-scale prototypes are now functional. The technology used is named Eyeclick and combines motion and optical sensors. Different applications are in development.

“Olly and Molly”, by Foundry at Mind Digital


Smell is the most under-used sense of the human body. Foundry, a small research team at Mint Digital, created a small device to stimulate the entire spectrum of our human powers during the day. Olly is a small robot that diffuses a fragrance of your choice when you receive emails, re-tweets, etc. As a modular system, Olly will have its own website from which one can customize the way the smelly robot responds to web stimuli.

And then, to complete the experience with taste, Foundry released Molly, a little brother of Olly, that graduates from scent to candy, dispensing one’s chosen sweets upon receipt of virtual notifications.

LuminAID is a solar-charged inflatable waterproof non-submersible lamp. Flat and light it will provide six hours of LED light.
According to Anna Storrk, co-founder of LuminAID, the object is designed to prevent an uncomfortable situation of darkness in the event of a natural disaster. “We wanted to design a portable light that could be easily distributed.”

The Spinner 360 Camera Lomography
The ‘spinner 360°‘ camera by Lomography takes panoramic pictures on 35mm film, spinning its lens with the pull of a drawstring .The device captures complete 360 degree images in between 1/125 and 1/250 of a second, but one can choose to release the string slowly by hand for a longer exposure footage. Vertical panoramas are achieved by simply rotating the camera.
