“Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera”, by Jonas Pfeil

Berlin-based computer engineer Jonas Pfeil and his team created the “Throwable Panoramin Ball Camera”, a very playful and enjoyable device that takes spherical panoramic pictures in a couple of seconds.

Here is a new concept: while visiting great places, one can just throw the ball and explore a full representation of the captured environment. The robust 3D-printed and padded with foam ball encloses 36 fixed-focus 2-megapixel mobile phone camera modules and an accelerometer used to measure launch acceleration. Integration predicts the rise time to the highest point, where the cameras are triggered.

The “Spinner 360” Camera, by Lomography

The ‘spinner 360°‘ camera by Lomography takes panoramic pictures on 35mm film, spinning its lens with the pull of a drawstring .The device captures complete 360 degree images in between 1/125 and 1/250 of a second, but one can choose to release the string slowly by hand for a longer exposure footage. Vertical panoramas are achieved by simply rotating the camera.
